Marianne Styles

Marianne has been performing professionally in the Mid-Atlantic region for over 20 years. Her music includes a dynamic mix of classic and current Rock, Folk/Irish, Pop and Country tunes, along with her originals.

Marianne likes to say that her greatest inspiration was her mother, Mary, who cleverly offered her a choice each night to practice music or help wash the dishes. Of course music won out, resulting in many extra hours of instrumental and vocal practice. Marianne's favorite instruments include guitar, piano and drums/percussion, although she has also performed over the years with French horn, cornet, violin and other instruments. Other important inspirations have included Mary Travers, Sinead O'Connor, Sara Bareilles, Maddy Prior, Stevie Nicks, Jewel and Pink. 

Styles began composing music and played her first solo public performance at the age of 16 at the Rose Tree Park Summer Concert Series in Pennsylvania, and has been hooked on live performance ever since. Her latest originals include "Red, Right, Return", "Dancing Under the Moon" and "Jimmie the Giant Blue Crab", each inspired by a unique aspect of the waterman community she lives near down on Hoopers Island, Maryland, and "Down the Shore", a tribute to her fond childhood memories of family summer vacations down the Jersey Shore. Her original "No More Lullabies" shows influences of classical lullabies and addresses our shared experience as individuals of what makes for a sleepless night.
